Founder Emmanuel Guardado brings the flavours of Salvadoran food to Calgary. Que Chivo restaurant specializes in pupusas, tamales, yuca frita, Salvadoran tacos, sweet plantain and much more. 

In 2016, Emmanuel made his dream of opening a restaurant a reality. Calgary's first Salvadoran food truck, Que Chivo, introduced the flavours of authentic Salvadoran street food to Calgarians. Que Chivo is a Salvadoran slang meaning cool, awesome, or rad. 

In 2018, Que Chivo opened its first bricks and mortar location at Fresh and Local Market & Kitchens. In 2023,  Que Chivo opened a second location in Okotoks. 

The inspiration for Que Chivo came from his home country, El Salvador and his mom's home cooking. Emmanuel spent almost every weekend training with his mom for six months to perfect the pupusas, El Salvador's signature dish. Pupusas are handmade corn tortillas filled with a variety of fillings, chicharron(pork) being one of the most popular flavours.
